Course Description: This course provides and introduction to the theological, historical, and literary features of the Old Testament, tracing God's covenant relationship with ancient Israel. Special consideration will be given to the divine covenants and Messianic prophecies of the Old Testament.
This course will lead the student through a close reading of the Old Testament as the uniquely true, trustworthy, and authoritative revelation of the living God. In particular, this course will highlight how the Old Testament testifies about the Messiah, Jesus Christ (John 5:39). Further, this course will study the historical empires and archaeological backgrounds that shed additional light on the glorious deeds of the Lord and the wonders that he has done.
By the end of this course you'll be able to:
State the basic storyline of the Old Testament
Articulate themes, purpose, and primary message of each book
Apply interpretive skill to Old Testament readings of different literary genres
Trust the Bible, live holy lives, and be evangelists
